Governing Ethics Issues in SC State Government

To ensure the highest standards of official conduct why supporting a culture of good government for the state of South Carolina, the Code of Conduct course has been developed to provide the public with greater confidence that their government is serving them responsibly and effectively.

The state of South Carolina offers an online Code of Conduct course that outlines the state’s expectations regarding employees’ behavior towards their colleagues, supervisors and overall organization.

New Employee Orientation

This orientation is designed to help you get started on your career with State Government. By the end of this orientation, you will:

  • be welcomed as a new or returning employee
  • become familiar with facts about South Carolina state government
  • understand the code of conduct and ethical responsibilities of state employees
  • become familiar with how your performance will be evaluated
  • receive information on your benefits
  • become familiar with the State’s compensation and classification system

The state of South Carolina will not tolerate discrimination or harassment based on race, sex, age, color, national origin, disability, or one’s protected activity in the work place. Federal and state laws also make these types of discrimination or harassment illegal.
