During this workshop participants will be given the opportunity to work through a case study which begins with receiving a complaint about employee misconduct. Participants will create a plan to conduct and document the investigation and determine what, if any, disciplinary action is warranted. Participants will then have the opportunity to follow the case through the grievance and appeal process including preparing for a mediation conference. In addition to the case study, participants will be provided with best practice information about employee conduct investigations, the application of progressive discipline and the grievance and appeal process. Particular focus will be given to the necessary documentation related to these topics. The workshop will wrap up with a session on coaching managers on effective communication and coaching. This session will provide guidance to participants on support they can provide to managers to address employee relations issues before situations escalate.
