Under very limited supervision, evaluates any caseload. Mentors other examiners and assists with required training.
This class is intended for use at the Vocational Rehabilitation Department in Disability Determination Services (DDS). Performs duties independently under limited supervision. Caseload increases and can process all types of cases.
Analyzes case issues upon receipt and develops case in a cost-effective manner through appropriate contacts with medical and lay sources for evidence of record. Authorizes appropriate consultative examination as required for PEBA/SCRS claims and Homestead claims. Evaluates all pertinent evidence on an ongoing basis for sufficiency in documentation and adjudication. Manages assigned caseload in accordance with established policies, procedures, and objectives in order to deliver. Ensures actions are completed timely through initial and subsequent development. Adjudicates case by preparing final determination and notice. Assists with training and mentoring of other Examiners.
Extensive knowledge of human services programs and eligibility processing. Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection and training. Knowledge of processes for providing customer and personal service, to include customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction. Extensive knowledge of laws, agency rules, procedures and government regulations as they pertain to determining eligibility for government programs. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with necessary agencies, organizations and interested public or private groups. Ability to prepare comprehensive reports. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to exercise discretion in achieving established objectives. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks and projects with competing deadlines. Ability to communicate and collaborate with staff from different levels of the workforce.
DDS CDR training.
High school diploma and 6 years of professional experience and 3 years examiner experience.
