General Nature of Work

Assists in the operation and maintenance of a state park.

Examples of Work

Assists with the upkeep of park grounds, facilities and equipment.Assists in preparing work plans, schedules and inventories.Collects camping, fishing, boating and picnic shelter fees for the use of park facilities, assists in the protection of park natural resources.Patrols park area and enforces park rules and regulations; assists in fire prevention.Makes purchases of equipment and supplies as directed.Answers park visitors' questions.Directs and supervises work of other park employees.Inspects park structures and facilities.Educates park visitors in the natural and cultural resources of the park.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of park policies and regulations. Skill in the use of equipment necessary for maintenance activities. Ability to prepare reports and schedules. Ability to supervise and train subordinates.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and experience as a handyman or park ranger.
