Performs entry-level professional and/or para-professional duties in the area of financial aid/services at an institution.
Entry-level professional, and/or paraprofessional duties related to assisting students, parents, faculty and staff with financial aid processes. Work generally requires application of policies and procedures with the financial aid area.
Assists in the implementation of financial aid programs; recommends changes in policies and procedures to improve programs. Provides proactive, timely, accurate, and comprehensive customer service to students. Conducts workshops on completing financial aid, loan and scholarship applications as well as financial management practices. Assists student financial aid applicants and recipients by providing accurate information and appropriate materials on all available financial aid programs; provides procedural instructions for completing the FAFSA; reviews and analyzes documentation for financial eligibility; requests additional information for incomplete or inconsistent applications to perform accurate needs analysis. Ensures accurate and timely data-entry or records; updates materials (including imaged documents) received in the Financial Aid and Scholarships Office; processes all applicant data; updates appropriate software systems; generates award letters and follow-up letters; expedites financial aid processing, loan tracking, and loan approval processes. Creates and maintains all student financial aid records, reports and files in compliance with federal, state and institutional regulations/policies. Maintains and creates consumer information documents regarding financial aid options for students and parents of students. Gathers and interprets paper documentation as well as input data to determine need analysis. Performs required verifications of financial aid applications. Processes professional judgment requests. Certifies loan applications. Processes PLUS Loan credit checks. Verifies promissory note completion and printing Master Promissory Notes. Creates and distributes Federal Aid disbursement notifications for both students (and parents as applicable). Administers entrance counseling for students with Federal Aid; completes exit counseling and appropriate documentation. Provides Veteran Affairs related services such as counseling, certification, and determination of need.
Knowledge of federal and state financial aid laws and regulations. Knowledge of the policies and procedures affecting the assigned program area(s). Knowledge of the basic principles and theories of student financial aid. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, faculty, staff and the general public. Ability to identify, develop and implement programs and activities that will benefit the campus community. Ability to provide supportive counseling regarding financial aid availability and resources. Ability to supervise and evaluate personnel. Ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures.
Bachelorメs degree or equivalent education, training and experience.
