This class is typically used for employees who accomplish institutional objectives through management of a broad spectrum of large scale public and private grants and contracts programs.
Directs and manages operations and activities related to grants and contracts management administered through institution. Provides consultation to principal investigators and grant administrators regarding contract requirements, provisions of contractual report and financial and agency requirements. Develops and implements institutional policies and procedures related to grant management compliance, such as care and use of animals, allegations and investigation of misconduct, etc. Oversees compliance committees. Directs and manages review of disclosures and financial interest, conflict of interest, etc. as required by federal regulatory requirements. Reviews contract proposals for fund allocation and compatibility with agency and/or institution objectives. Reviews current and pending legislative changes to stay current on federal research and compliance requirements.
Knowledge of contractual and grant monitoring procedures. Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles and procedures. Knowledge of agency policies and regulations which pertain to contractual and grant activities. Ability to review and assess complex grants and contracts. Ability to direct the activities of subordinate personnel. Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with local, state and federal agencies. Ability to communicate effectively.
A master's degree in a related field and experience in oversight of contract and grant administration activities.
