This class is used for professional employees who function as specialists in a designated media arts area. It includes supervisory and lead worker positions.

Examples of Work

Supervises or performs complex photography and photographic processing.Directs and conducts long-range project planning.Plans and conducts technical training of subordinates.Writes copy and gathers research material for print, photographic and multimedia communications projects.Analyzes and identifies audiences; plans media devices designed to reach special audiences.Supervises motion picture filming and the preparation of graphic art.Produces studio television programs or professional films, including script writing, photography, editing and sound recording.Supervises the maintenance and operation of audiovisual and multimedia equipment. Maintains media resources collections. Purchases new equipment and supplies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of the principles, procedures, equipment and materials associated with the appropriate area of media arts. Knowledge of market research procedures and techniques. Skill in the operation and application of complex graphic and multimedia equipment. Skill in the operation and application of complex digital imaging equipment and software. Skill in the troubleshooting and problem solving audiovisual, multimedia, and computer equipment. Skill in the investigation and evaluation models and costs for new equipment and supplies. Ability to supervise the technical work of others. Ability to communicate effectively and aesthetically. Ability to establish positive working relationships with others.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a related field.
