Examples of Work

Plans and manages academic education and related training programs for specialized curriculum areas. Provides guidance and oversight in the curriculum review process in updating credit or non-credit curricula. Serves as resource for Deans, Department Heads and Program Coordinators in providing appropriate information for submission to accrediting bodies. Develops and implements the adoption of uniform procedures and criteria for the particular area of study, such as course titles, content, credit, instructional contact time, grading and related matters. Plans workshops to develop and update course content. Oversees in-service training programs for education personnel in specialized curriculum areas and related staff instructional needs. Assists in the development of new academic and/or continuing education programs. Serves as a resource in the procurement of instructional equipment related to specialized curriculum areas. Evaluates the appropriateness and responsiveness of the curriculum to the client's needs; ensures appropriate modifications to programs and/or methods as needed. Serves as liaison with and educational consultant for other agencies, departments or organizations; prepares and disseminates information concerning educational programs and procedures.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of principles and procedures of curriculum development. Knowledge of methods and philosophies of education research and their application to specialized curriculum areas. Knowledge of diagnostic and evaluation methods utilized in specialized curriculum areas. Knowledge of educational equipment and instructional aids used in the particular area of study. Ability to develop guidelines for curriculum development and encourage participant involvement. Working knowledge of learning management software. Understanding of variety of teaching methodologies to appeal to all learning types.

Special Requirements

Some positions may require teacher certification.

Minimum Requirements

Master's degree in education or related field and experience in curriculum management/development or related area.
