Provides guidance and supervision to individuals performing data entry, quality control and data processing library maintenance duties.

Guidelines for Class Use/Distinguishing Characteristics

This class is intended for use at the lead worker and first-line supervisor levels.

Examples of Work

Plans and schedules the work of the lower-level Data Entry and Control Clerks. Trains new employees in office procedures and equipment operations. Coordinates preparation of data prior to input. Oversees the distribution of output. Supervises the maintenance a tape library. Maintains documentation for data processing systems. Prepares system utilization reports. Maintains the supply inventory. Performs system back-up and restore procedures. Distributes library holdings in accordance with authorized procedures. Maintains all library materials in an organized manner.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of computer output quality control standards. Knowledge of computer equipment operations. Knowledge of principles and practices of effective supervision. Ability to provide guidance to others in their work activities. Ability to organize and schedule work flow. Ability to lift and maneuver computer tapes and log books. Ability to communicate effectively.

Minimum Requirements

Data processing, data entry or computer operations experience.
