Under direct supervision, evaluates a basic caseload after completing the provided training.
This class is intended for use at the Vocational Rehabilitation Department in Disability Determination Services (DDS). Performs duties under direct supervision. Receives immense amount of training before accessing case files. Evaluates only basic caseloads.
Analyzes case issues upon receipt and develops case in a cost-effective manner through appropriate contacts with medical and lay sources for evidence of record. Authorizes appropriate consultative examination as required. Evaluates all pertinent evidence on an ongoing basis for sufficiency in documentation and adjudication. Manages assigned caseload in accordance with established policies, procedures, and objectives in order to deliver a timely decision. Ensures actions are completed timely through initial and subsequent development. Adjudicates cases by preparing final determination and notice.
Knowledge of laws, agency rules, procedures and government regulations as they pertain to determining eligibility for government programs. Knowledge of processes for providing customer and personal services. Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing and managing files and records. Knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, both orally and in writing, so others will understand. Ability to exercise discretion in achieving established objectives. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems. Ability to communicate information and ideas effectively, both orally and in writing. DDS Basic Examiner Training and DDS Reconsideration training.
High school diploma and 6 years of professional experience.
