Assists with the maintenance, repair and modification of traffic signal equipment.
Performs entry-level work in the repair and maintenance of traffic signal equipment.
Assists with the repair and maintenance of a variety of traffic signal equipment, such as signal control equipment, traffic detection equipment, signal communication equipment and other electrical systems. Assists with standard and preventative maintenance on traffic signal components and systems. Maintains records on status, location, repair history and parts inventory. Participates in the installation and setup of equipment. Assists with inspecting traffic signal construction. Loads and unloads supplies and equipment. Assists with traffic control setup. Uses a bucket truck to perform work on aerial equipment. Responds to emergency situations involving traffic signal operations during inclement weather and natural disasters.
Knowledge of standard electronic circuitry. Ability to use standard electronic testing equipment such as voltmeters, frequency counters and transistor testers. Ability to troubleshoot electronic equipment using blueprints and schematics. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to maintain a spare parts inventory. Ability to follow on-the-job safety guidelines and accident prevention practices.
Positions require a valid motor vehicle operator’s license upon entry to the position and attainment of a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within six (6) months of placement in the position. International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Level II Certification may be required.
A high school diploma. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
