Incumbents perform entry-level duties under direct supervision.

Examples of Work

Assists in office summarization of field data; corrects computer edits of data entries. Assists in various field surveys such as roadside interviews, vehicle occupancy checks, speed-delay surveys and street inventories. Assists in installing, inspecting and maintaining traffic counters. Cleans and maintains equipment. Carries and sets up bipod-type calibrated meter rods. Records meteorological data, ambient temperature, barometric pressure and relative humidity during geodetic operations. Records horizontal and vertical angles for first- and second-order theodolite. Assists with geodetic monumentation by digging holes, mixing and pouring concrete and placing disks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to perform mathematical computations involving algebra. Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively. Skill in the operation of peripheral survey equipment. Ability to perform outdoor work in all kinds of weather.

Special Requirements

Some positions require a valid driver's license.
