Positions in this class are generally at the entry level and incumbents generally assist higher-level managers.

Examples of Work

Assists in the development and stimulation of capital investment in South Carolina by new and existing businesses. Assists in conducting community analysis studies on a multi-county basis to compile an historic/demographic/economic profile in order to build a community database. Assists in coordinating public/private capital resources, as well as business, management and technical assistance efforts, for South Carolina communities. Assists companies in exporting their goods and services. Assists in the design and development of targeted tourism marketing strategies for national and international consumer and trade markets. Assists in the design and implementation of broad-based marketing programs utilizing special events, public relations, advertising, familiarization tours and other promotional strategies.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of resources available throughout the state to attract and aid business. Knowledge of public relations and marketing programs. Knowledge of the tourism, leisure, and entertainment industries. Knowledge of marketing, sales, and research strategies and principles. Ability to maintain effective business relationships with prospective and current clients. Ability to communicate effectively.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor's degree in a related subject area and experience in economic development or marketing.
