Guidelines for Class Use/Distinguishing Characteristics

This is the senior class in operational support, data collection, production, reporting and delivery. Positions in this class may manage certain functions and may supervise other Operations Assistants.

Examples of Work

May plan and schedule the work of the lower-level Operations Assistants. Trains new employees in office procedures and equipment operations. Coordinates preparation of data prior to input. Monitors the distribution of output. Maintains documentation for data processing systems. Prepares system utilization reports. Maintains the supply inventory. Assists in planning new procedures and methods. Prepares and maintains periodic reports concerning work completed. Performs research and audits for unusual or complicated transactions. Responsible for meeting schedules, distribution and record keeping requirements. May facilitate the collection, formatting and editing of data for management information reports. Develops and revises forms used for data collection and reporting. Ensures accuracy and completeness of data. Coordinates system uses and operations between data processing staff and agency users. Identifies system or equipment problems resulting in the inaccurate or incomplete production of data. Develops staff and production schedules. Assigns production and report priorities. Ensures preventative maintenance, care and security of equipment. Provides user training and assistance.

Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to analyze complex data and data collection and develop methods to obtain accurate, useful output. Ability to design and modify report forms. Ability to coordinate and schedule work between user groups. Ability to train and assist staff in the use of systems. Ability to direct the work of subordinate personnel.

Minimum Requirements

A high school diploma and work experience in collecting, scheduling, processing and reporting information in a data processing environment.
